Structural Foam Molding
Foam molding is an advanced molding process that creates an extremely durable product using less material than injection molding. The finished product is up to 20% lighter in weight and withstands heavy loads and high levels of abuse.

Process Description : A mixture of resin and gas is shot under low pressure into a cavity. As the mixture fills the mold, the gas expands and forms tiny bubbles within the plastic, creating parts with an internal cellular structure and a tough external skin.

Manufacturing Capabilities
Capacity: 100 to 1,000 ton
Shot size: 1 - 250 lbs.

Advantages of Foam Molding
  • Very strong products, heavy products
  • Uses less material than injection molding; parts are     20% lighter
  • Large molded parts
  • Wide choice of materials
  • Low tooling costs
  • Fast mold turn-around
  • Higher stiffness-to-weight ratios
  • Greater chemical resistance
